Orpinela Guest House

Johnette Orpinela first thought of including the ecoroof after her new studio/guest house was already framed. Her own home’s tree-filled view had been replaced by an unattractive expanse of barren roof. She turned to Ecoroof’s Everywhere and the City of Portland for design advice after an online search. The guest house also incorporates other elements of green design including passive cooling, daylighting, and low toxicity construction materials. Featured as a model healthy home on the 2003 ReThink Build It Green Home Tour.

Ecoroofs Everywhere installed this over a couple weekends in 2005, back when we were a non-profit.

This is one of our first projects, back when we were a non-profit.
